Agreement Supports Students Transferring to Catholic University

The Catholic University of America's Metropolitan School of Professional Studies (MSPS) has partnered with Anne Arundel Community College to help ensure a smooth transition for students transferring into bachelor's programs at MSPS.

Under an articulation agreement signed this month, students from the community college in Arnold, Md., can transfer up to 66 credits from their associate's degree programs into one of MSPS's three bachelor's degree programs.

"By establishing this agreement with Anne Arundel Community College, we are helping students define a clear path to Catholic University's Metropolitan School of Professional Studies and to the attainment of a bachelor's degree," says Sara Thompson, dean of MSPS. "Through this partnership, we are providing students with another terrific option for realizing their higher education dreams."

The agreement is part of an effort by schools at CUA to encourage graduates of public institutions to consider transferring to the university by making that transition easier. CUA's School of Engineering has a similar articulation agreement with Anne Arundel Community College.

The agreement takes effect immediately and will be announced at the Anne Arundel Community College Transfer Fair on Thursday, March 11. MSPS currently maintains articulation agreements with Prince George's Community College and Northern Virginia Community College and is in the process of drafting an agreement with Montgomery College.

While MSPS has several scholarship opportunities, the school offers transfer students a unique Community College Transfer Scholarship. Those scholarships are awarded each year to two graduates of partner institutions and are applicable to the first year of study at CUA.
