Lecture and Discussion: Blond’s Red Toryism

Phillip Blond, author of "Red Tory: How the Left and Right Have Broken Britain," will deliver a lecture on his theory of "Red Toryism," described by the Institute for Policy Research & Catholic Studies as a "communitarian, traditional, and compassionate conservativism" that is "as suspicious of unchecked economic markets as it is of over-extensive national governance."

Blond is an Anglican theologian, professor at the University of Cumbria in England, and founder and director of the think-tank ResPublica.

William Galston and Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (R-Neb.) will deliver responses to the lecture. Galston is a senior fellow of the Brookings Institute and former domestic policy adviser for President Bill Clinton. Fortenberry is a member of Congress, chairman of the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Department Operations, Oversight, and Credit, and a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
