Offices and Classes in Marist Hall  to be Relocated

Following the August 23 earthquake, Catholic University engaged a structural engineer to assess Marist Hall. The University received an evaluation today from the engineer indicating that the exterior walls in one wing of the structure sustained cracks and movement as a result of the seismic event. The building will need to be repaired. Out of an abundance of caution, the University has decided to vacate the entire building before repairs on the southwest wing commence. As a result, the Office of Enrollment Services is relocating classes scheduled for Thursday evening and beyond. The enrollment services office is in the process of contacting students and instructors in the Marist classes that are being relocated. A PDF list of temporary class relocations to other venues on campus will be listed at the enrollment services website.

In addition, offices in Marist will be relocated to other buildings on campus. Alternate spaces in other buildings are in the process of being identified. The Office of the Provost, through the respective deans, and the Office of Facilities, Maintenance, and Operations will be in contact with affected faculty and staff who will need to be relocated. The University anticipates that repairs to the building will take an extended period of time.
