Arad will discuss his design for the 9/11 Memorial at the World Trade Center site, "Reflecting Absence," which was chosen from among more than 5,000 entries in an international competition. In 2006, he was one of six recipients of the Young Architects Award of the American Institute of Architects. The award honors architects who have been licensed for 10 years or fewer and who have shown "exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the profession early in their years." The Marcou Memorial Lecture is presented to honor George T. Marcou, professor emeritus of urban planning at Catholic University, who passed away in 2011. This event is free and open to the public.
