The newest edition of The Catholic University of America Press catalog is available online and in hard copy. The catalog lists new books available for spring and summer 2013.
Featured in the catalog is Pope Benedict XVI's A Reason Open to God: On Universities, Education & Culture . This collection of the pope's most important addresses on the topic of higher education includes his address at Catholic University on April 17, 2008. University President John Garvey provides a foreword in which he reflects on the themes of the pope's speeches.
This edited collection addresses "reason and its connections to religion and popular culture," says CUA Press Director Trevor Lipscombe. "The Holy Father's words may be controversial, but they will surely foster and nourish further debate on the delicate balance of reason, faith, and service, which are hallmarks of Catholic intellectual life."
A Reason Open to God will be released in July.
Another noteworthy new title in the 33-page catalog is A Service of Love: Papal Primacy, the Eucharist, and Church Unity by Monsignor Paul McPartlan, who is Carl J. Peter Professor of Systematic Theology and Ecumenism at Catholic University Michael Mack's Sidney's Poetics: Imitating Creation is new in paperback and available through the catalog. Mack is vice provost and dean of undergraduate studies at the University.
CUA Press publishes scholarly works and serious studies of general interest in history (ecclesiastical and secular), literature and languages, philosophy, political theory, and theology.
