DETAILS
CUA's Department of Art will host a reception on Saturday for the Washington debut of artist Stephanie Kay and the opening of her solo exhibition "She Went That Way..." Kay, who earned her Master of Fine Arts degree from Boston University, is an adjunct professor of drawing, design, and painting at Catholic University and has shown her work in a variety of shows and collections.
The exhibition, on display from Oct. 5 to Dec. 1, will feature a cross section of Kay's work, which explores the shifts between drawing and painting and the interchangeable nature of the two. The exhibit comprises powerful, larger-than-life charcoal self-portraits and the paintings derived from them, painterly land and seascapes in powdered graphite wash on translucent mylar, and anthropomorphic "still-life" paintings of automobile parts and detritus.
The opening reception on Oct. 5 is open to the public.
