U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) will deliver a policy address on the nation's values at The Catholic University of America Wednesday, July 23. Titled "Strong Values for a Strong America," the senator's speech will address what he perceives as the breakdown of American families, the erosion of values, and the impact these cultural issues have on economic life. The event, which will take place at 1 p.m. in Great Room A of the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center, will be co-sponsored by Catholic University's Institute for Policy Research & Catholic Studies (IPR) and the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention. Sen. Rubio's address will be followed by a panel discussion of analysts and scholars. Moderated by Stephen Schneck, director of IPR, the panel will include Russell Moore, president of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention; Penny Nance, president of Concerned Women for America; Richard V. Reeves, a fellow in economic studies at the Brookings Institution; Brad Wilcox, director of the National Marriage Project; and Sister Ann Patrick Conrad, associate professor of social work at CUA. "We are very pleased to be hosting this major policy address on an important topic by Senator Rubio," said Schneck. "And we're very pleased that there will be an opportunity following his remarks to examine his policy prescriptions from a variety of expert perspectives."Registration is required for the event.
