    Widmer served as an internet and speech-recognition software executive/ entrepreneur and led a business strategy consulting firm for four years. Also served as a Swiss Guard to Pope John Paul II from 1986-88 and now returns to the Vatican to serve the Guards during their swearing-in ceremonies each year.
