Sept. 28, 2010

The Department of Art presents two new exhibitions: "Crafting a Legacy: A Half Century of Art at CUA" in Salve Regina Hall (Oct. 2 through 30), and "Alexander Giampietro: A Retrospective" in the May Gallery, John K. Mullen of Denver Memorial Library (Oct. 2 through 22). "Giampietro: A Restrospective" celebrates the work of an internationally known sculptor and ceramicist, who served as a professor at CUA from 1950 to 1992. "Crafting a Legacy" features the paintings, prints, sculptures, drawings and ceramics of nine outstanding artists, who were CUA students and/or faculty members in the art department between 1950 and 2000: Jeff Andrews, Alexander Giampietro, Georgia Jessup, Patricia Malarcher, Willy Malarcher, Tom Nakashima, Tom Rooney, Nell Sonnemann and John Winslow. During Homecoming Weekend, art history majors from the Class of 2011 will be offering tours of "Crafting a Legacy" between 10 a.m. and 3 pm. These events are free and open to the public.
