A discussion will be led by Mohammed Raja Abdullah Al-Hussaini Al Sharif, ambassador of the League of Arab States to the United States, and Dennis Wholey, CUA alumnus and host of PBS' This is America with Dennis Wholey . The ambassador is a career Saudi diplomat and was formerly Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Canada and Turkey. He has also served his country in Manila, Philippines; Caracas, Venezuela; Houston; Bamako, Mali; and London. Wholey earned his undergraduate degree in drama from The Catholic University of America. He is the author of books ranging from The Courage to Change to his recent novel, The Chance of a Lifetime . He also teaches a course, "The Art of the Interview," at Catholic University. The acquaintance between the ambassador and Wholey originated in their cooperation for installments in Wholey's recent television series, This is America Visits the World . "In Conversation" at CUA will be a continuation of that discussion, and will focus upon the pivotal importance of the Middle East to the contemporary world, and how to interpret the recent Arab Spring and its continuing implications for the United States and the rest of the world.
