Race to the Top school improvement grant recipients unanimously chose to incorporate some type of professional learning community (PLC) as a requirement of the grant to advance educational reforms and effective professional development. This article presents a rational for the implementation of PLC's for music teachers in order to address teacher isolation and attrition.
