Timothy J. Meagher , associate professor of history and curator of the American Catholic History Research Center and University Archives, is an expert in American urban and ethnic group history, especially that of Irish immigrants. He specializes in the study of Irish-American popular culture. His book,
Inventing Irish America (University of Notre Dame Press, 2001), won the American Conference for Irish Studies' James Donnelly Prize for the year's best book about Irish and Irish-American history. He is also the author of

David Walsh , professor of politics, is a specialist in political theory. He can comment on the current economic and political scene in Ireland and the collapse of the Celtic Tiger - the period of rapid economic growth in Ireland from 1995 to 2007. Walsh is the author of a three-volume study of modernity addressing the totalitarian crisis, the resurgence of liberal democracy, and the philosophical revolution of the modern world.
