Concert: Faculty and Students to Perform at Strathmore Mansion

DETAILS:

Catholic University's Benjamin T. Rome of Music presents the inaugural concert of a new series to be performed at the Mansion at Strathmore. The series will continue during the 2010-2011 school year with three more concerts.

Eight members of the school's faculty and two students will take part in the concert, featuring music of Mozart, Ullmann, Schumann, Schubert and Verdi.

Grayson Wagstaff, professor and chair of musicology, and Andrew Weaver, assistant professor, will host the event and provide introductions about the history of the musical selections.

Performers will include:

  • Soprano Sharon Christman, associate professor and chair of the voice program
  • Violinist Jody Gatwood, associate professor
  • Pianist Ivo Kaltchev, associate professor and chair of the piano program
  • Cellist Michael Mermagen, associate professor
  • Pianist Nikita Fitenko, associate professor
  • Tenor Rick Christman, adjunct voice professor
  • Violinist Solomia Gorokhivska, doctoral candidate
  • Violist Shearom Chung, doctoral candidate
