During this week's summit on nuclear affairs in Washington, D.C, CUA politics professor Maryann Cusimano Love is available to discuss the morality of international nuclear policies.
Associate professor of international relations in the politics department, Love is a consultant to the U.S. Catholic Bishops on international affairs including nuclear policy. She is a fellow at the Commission on International Religious Freedom. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses at CUA and the Pentagon, such as Security, Just Peace, Terrorism, Globalization, and The Problem of Sovereignty.
Her recent international relations books include Beyond Sovereignty: Issues for a Global Agenda (4th Edition, 2010), Morality Matters: Ethics and the War on Terrorism (forthcoming at Cornell University Press), and "What Kind of Peace Do We Seek?" a book chapter on peacebuilding, to appear in the University of Notre Dame's volume on The Ethics and Theology of Peacebuilding .
She is the organizer of CUA's April 26 conference " The Ethics of the Obama Administration's Nuclear Weapons Policy ." The conference will feature talks by Baltimore Archbishop Edwin O'Brien, Assistant Secretary of State Rose Gottemoeller, and Gen. William Burns, former U.S. arms negotiator, among others. Love will also speak at the conference.
