DETAILS: | CUA's schools of philosophy and law will host "Life and Learning XX," the 20th annual conference of University Faculty for Life, a non-denominational organization advancing the pro-life cause among academics. University Faculty for Life focuses on three main issues: abortion, infanticide and euthanasia. "The annual conference of University Faculty for Life brings together academic people from all parts of higher education to consider and advance the reasoned defense of human life from conception until natural death," says Rev. Kurt Pritzl, O.P., CUA's dean of the School of Philosophy. "The issues of the conference are fundamental moral and human rights issues of our day and the opportunity for scholars from various disciplines to gather about them is a rare and exciting one." About 100 faculty members from U.S. colleges and universities, both private and public, are expected to attend. Speakers at the event represent nearly 20 universities and pro-life organizations, among others. CUA professors who will deliver talks include Mark Rienzi, assistant professor of law; Lucia Silecchia, professor of law; Monsignor Robert Sokolowski, Elizabeth Breckenridge Caldwell Professor of Philosophy; and Rev. Donald Paul Sullins, associate professor of sociology. For more information or to register to attend the conference, visit http://www.uffl.org/2010conference.html . |
