Catholic University's School of Architecture and Planning presents the lecture "Detritus" by architect Alan Organschi - the first event in the school's 2010 Summer Lecture Series "(E)MERGE."

The series explores the meanings of "emergence" in today's contemporary architectural practices. It will examine how different understandings of the term develop from evolutionary processes in the work of the presenters and how these concepts give birth to new techniques and forms and affect the way architecture and design are experienced today.

Organschi, principal at Gray Organschi Architecture in New Haven, Conn., will discuss the work of his firm, which specializes in the design of both residential and institutional projects.

The firm has won numerous honors, including regional American Association of Architecture (AIA) Merit and Design awards and was the recipient of the 2001 Emerging Architects Award from the Connecticut AIA. The firm's partners have been widely published, including in Architectural Record , House & Garden , The New York Times and in numerous books.
