- POLITICAL LEADERSHIP - Matthew Green , assistant professor of politics, is an expert on the U.S. Congress, political leadership, American elections and American political development. Before receiving his doctorate, he worked as a legislative assistant in the House of Representatives from 1995 to 1998. His most recent book, The Speaker of the House: A Study of Leadership, examines how House speakers have influenced the legislative process." - AMERICAN POLITICS - Stephen Schneck, director of the Institute for Policy Research & Catholic Studies, has spoken widely regarding the convergence of religion and American politics. His areas of expertise also include: the Catholic vote, religion and American politics, church/state issues, and the political implications of Church teachings. - ELECTIONS AND THE IRAQI CONFLICT - Wallace Thies , professor of politics, is available to discuss the impact of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan on the elections as well as the impact of the elections on U.S. policy. A specialist in U.S. national security policy with an interest in terrorism, Thies is the author of two books - one on the Vietnam War and the other on NATO - as well as about 20 articles on various topics related to military strategy and national security issues. - POLITICAL PARTIES, ELECTIONS AND THE PRESIDENCY - John Kenneth White , presidential scholar and professor of politics, can provide insight, historical perspective and thoughtful commentary on elections, American political parties and the U.S. presidency. White has written extensively about the American party system and the U.S. presidency. His 2009 book, Barack Obama's America: How New Conceptions of Race, Family, and Religion Ended the Reagan Era, examines the shifts in American demography, including race, family life and religion and how these changes have created a new politics. White has coined the phrase "E pluribus duo" to describe the United States' political polarization into two competing political camps. He has contributed pieces to The Huffington Post and San Francisco Chronicle. He is currently completing a book on political parties to be published in 2012.
