Trick or treaters from neighborhood elementary schools enjoy last year's Halloween on Campus.
Catholic University will host a Halloween event Thursday evening, Oct. 28, for hundreds of local elementary school students.
The third annual Halloween on Campus will feature face painting, relay races, cookie decorating, a moon bounce and putting a smile on the face of jack-o' lanterns. There will also be free candy, including chocolate bars and candy corn, but children are not required to wear costumes.
"This is an opportunity for the CUA community to meet our Brookland neighbors," says Emmjolee Mendoza Waters, associate campus minister for community service and DC Reads. "We have the opportunity to provide a safe trick-or-treating for kids in the neighborhood."
CUA President John Garvey is scheduled to attend. CUA faculty, staff and students are invited to participate and encouraged to bring friends and family, says Mendoza Waters.
The festivities will be held in Curley Court, toward the northern end of campus, and will run from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
Campus Ministry has invited children from St. Ann's Infant and Maternity Home, Brookland Elementary, St. Anthony Catholic and Hope Community Charter schools.
