DETAILS: Scrapomatic, a blues band featuring Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Mike Mattison, will perform at The Catholic University of America on March 24.

Mattison has dozens of songwriting credits over seven albums, and has performed with Santana, the Allman Brothers Band, Branford Marsalis, and Herbie Hancock. He is the lead singer and songwriter for The Derek Trucks Band and for Scrapomatic. He graduated with a degree in American literature from Harvard University, where he studied poetry with leading American poetry critic Helen Vendler.

Poet and novelist David Bottoms will begin the evening with a reading. Bottoms is the author of two novels and eight books of poetry. A Walt Whitman Award winner, Bottoms is Poet Laureate of the state of Georgia. Bottoms holds the Amos Distinguished Chair in English Letters at Georgia State University and was inducted into the Georgia Writers' Hall of Fame in 2009.
