Mutual Inspirations Festival 2011 - Antonin Dvorák On Saturday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m., as part of a celebration of the shared inspirations between the Czech and American cultures, Professor Murry Sidlin will conduct The Catholic University of America Symphony Orchestra in a concert of Dvorák's Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, "From the New World," at the National Museum of the American Indian.
On Sunday, Sept. 18, at 6:30 p.m., the Rome Trio, featuring music professors Jody Gatwood (violin), Ivo Kaltchev (piano), and Michael Mermagen (cello), will present an evening of Dvorák's Dumky Trio and works by Dvorák's student Josef Suk in the National Gallery of Art West Building, West Garden Court.

On the Town This year's fall musical theatre show, On the Town , will take place Friday, Oct. 28, through Sunday, Oct. 30. Performances take place in Hartke Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for seniors, students, and CUA alumni, faculty, and staff.
Carnegie Hall Concert Series For the second year in a row, performers from the music school will present a series of concerts at Carnegie Hall's Weill Hall in New York, sponsored by the La Gesse Foundation. Concerts will take place Monday, Oct. 31, through Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 8 p.m. each day. Performers include: Professor Sharon Christman, soprano; Professor Jody Gatwood, violin; Ira Gold, double bass; and Jose Ramos Santana, piano; members of the CUA Symphony Orchestra conducted by David Searle, director of orchestral activities; and 2011 Fellows of the La Gesse Foundation, who include CUA alumni and students.
Suor Angelica and La Voix Humaine The fall opera performance of Suor Angelica and La Voix Humaine , operas by Giacomo Puccini and Francis Poulenc respectively, will be staged in Ward Hall's recital hall Friday, Nov. 18, through Sunday, Nov. 20. Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for seniors, students, and CUA alumni, faculty, and staff.
Christmas Concert for Charity The Annual Christmas Concert for Charity, co-sponsored by The Catholic University of America and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, will take place Friday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. The CUA Symphony Orchestra and University Chorus will perform along with the choir of the Basilica. A freewill offering will be taken up to benefit a local charity to be named later this fall.
Wind Ensemble Concert Conductor John Mitchell will lead the Wind Ensemble on Monday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in Hartke Theatre.
Carnegie Concert Review On Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m., the CUA Symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Searle, will present an encore concert featuring selections they will have performed in the fall at the Carnegie Center. The concert will take place in Hartke Theatre.
Vocal Division Concert The school of music voice division will present a gala evening event on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Hartke Theatre. Faculty artists as well as guest alumni Brandie Sutton, soprano, and Issachah Savage, tenor, will perform in this concert event.
Great Noise Ensemble The Great Noise Ensemble, artists in residence at the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, will present a concert on Friday, Dec. 9, at 7:30 p.m., in Hartke Theatre.
Honor Band The second annual All Catholic High School Honor Band Festival will take place at CUA on Saturday, Dec. 10. The event will culminate with a concert conducted by John Mitchell, director of the Wind Ensemble, in the Hartke Theatre at 5 p.m.
