As repairs to McMahon Hall come to a conclusion, preparations are under way for an orderly transition to reoccupying the building. Since the reoccupation of the building will occur in phases on Thursday, Sept. 1, the University Administration has decided to extend the adjustments for class locations announced last week to include all Thursday classes. This means that no classes will be held in McMahon Hall on Thursday, Sept. 1. The adjusted class locations will include classes usually scheduled for McMahon and several other buildings on campus.

The Office of Enrollment Services will contact each student and instructor in the affected classes via their CUA e-mail account to inform them of the changes that affect the venue of their Thursday class.

A complete list of temporary class assignments can be found at the Enrollment Services website: in the Announcements section of the Cardinal Station portal, on the "Student Center" page in Cardinal Station, and on home.cua.edu . In addition, notices are posted at the doors of all affected buildings, including the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center.

As previously announced, all classes from noon until 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, have been cancelled because of the University's Mass of the Holy Spirit and the picnic that will follow.

Unless the Catholic University community is notified otherwise on Thursday, classes will be held Friday in their originally assigned locations as listed in Cardinal Station.

For those who work in McMahon Hall, the Office of Facilities, Maintenance, and Operations has determined that the building has been rendered safe and ready for occupancy Thursday, Sept. 1, according to the following schedule:

  • 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. All staff and faculty with offices in the basement or first floor except the Post Office (see below)
  • 10 a.m. - noon All staff and faculty with offices on the second floor
  • 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. All staff and faculty with offices on the third and fourth floor

Faculty and staff should enter the building through the disabled access entrance on the east side of McMahon. All other entrances will be locked. No one should move back into their office before the scheduled time noted above.

The Post Office will be open for business on Sept. 1 in Father O'Connell Hall. It will be closed Sept. 2 and will reopen for business in McMahon Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Anyone moving back into McMahon who needs special assistance should contact the Office of Facilities, Maintenance and Operations at x5121.
