DETAILS | John L. Esposito, professor of religion and international affairs and professor of Islamic studies at Georgetown University, will present the 37th Annual Thomas Verner Moore Lecture: "Preachers of Hate and Their Impact on Muslim-Christian Relations." Esposito is founding director of the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding in Georgetown's Walsh School of Foreign Service. He has written more than 40 books, including "The Future of Islam," "Islam and Politics, and Unholy War: Terror in the Name of Islam." His books and articles have been translated into more than 30 languages. A former president of the Middle East Studies Association of North America and of the American Council for the Study of Islamic Societies, Esposito is a member of the World Economic Forum's Council of 100 Leaders and of the European Network of Experts on De-Radicalisation. His awards include the 2005 Martin E. Marty Award for the Public Understanding of Religion and Pakistan's Quaid-i-Azzam Award for Outstanding Contributions in Islamic Studies.
