DETAILS On the occasion of the publication of “Why Priests Are Happy: A Study of the Psychological and Spiritual Health of Priests,” by Monsignor Stephen Rossetti, clinical associate professor of pastoral studies and associate dean for seminary and ministerial programs, Catholic University hosts a symposium on the priesthood.
  • 9 a.m. Morning prayer, led by Cardinal Donald Wuerl, archbishop of Washington and chancellor of Catholic University
  • 9:30 a.m. Welcome from President John Garvey
  • 9:45 a.m. Lecture: "Why Priests Are Happy, A Study of the Psychological and Spiritual Health of Priests," by Monsignor Stephen Rossetti. A question-and-answer period follows.
  • 11:15 a.m. Break
  • 11:30 a.m. Lecture: "The Diocesan Priesthood - an Historian's View," by Joseph White, Catholic University associate professor of theology and religious studies
  • 12:30 p.m. Lunch
  • 1:30 p.m. Lecture: "Reflections of a Diocesan Bishop on 'Why Priests are Happy'," by Most Rev. Wilton D. Gregory, archbishop of Atlanta. A question-and-answer period follows.
  • 2:30 p.m. Break
  • 2:45 p.m. Lecture: "Implications of 'Why Priests are Happy' on Vocational Discernment and Formation," by Monsignor Robert Panke, rector of the Blessed John Paul II Seminary and chair of the National Conference of Diocesan Vocation Directors
