DETAILS | The Catholic University of America will participate in the Remembrance Day National Roll Call on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. More than 160 colleges and universities in all 50 states will conduct a roll call of the 6,200-plus servicemen and women who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan in the last 10 years since the war on terrorism began. "CUA is proud to participate in this grassroots national effort," said retired Navy Cmdr. Ed Schaefer, CUA's veterans affairs coordinator and executive project coordinator in the Office of the Vice President for Finance and Treasurer. "Speaking the names of those who have died in service to our country is a valuable way of honoring their lives and of raising awareness among college students." "We are hoping all members of the CUA community will participate in this event by stopping to listen to the names at some point during the day or by volunteering to read the names for 15 minutes," added Schaefer. The National Roll Call is sponsored by the Veterans Knowledge Community of Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. For more information on CUA's Remembrance Day event or to volunteer to read names on Nov. 11, contact Schaefer at Schaefer@cua.edu . Individuals requesting accommodations for disabilities should contact cua-access@cua.edu . |
