CUA Experts Available to Discuss GOP Primaries and Presidential Campaign
Political experts at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., are available to discuss the GOP primaries and the presidential campaign. Each source has extensive media experience.
- CONGRESSIONAL POLITICS - Matthew Green , associate professor of politics, is an expert on congressional politics, partisanship and party conflict, congressional elections, and presidential-congressional relations. A former Brookings Institution Research Fellow, he also worked as a legislative assistant in the House of Representatives. - POLITICAL LEADERSHIP - Phillip Henderson , associate professor and chair of the politics department, is the author of "Managing the Presidency: The Eisenhower Legacy," and editor of "The Presidency Then and Now." He is currently writing "Groupthink Revisited: 9/11 and the Iraq War in Historical Context." He also has a book underway that compares 11 key leaders in American history who had a profound impact on the institutions in which they served. His teaching interests include U.S. political leadership since 1789, National Security decision-making, the U.S. Presidency, and American national institutions. - AMERICAN POLITICS - Stephen Schneck , director of CUA's Institute for Policy Research & Catholic Studies and associate professor of politics, is an expert in the convergence of religion and the issues of contemporary politics. His other areas of expertise include the Catholic vote, the framers of the U.S. Constitution, religion and American politics, church/state issues, and the political implications of Catholic theology. - ELECTIONS AND THE ELECTORATE - John Kenneth White , presidential scholar and professor of politics, can provide insight and historical perspective on the election and the impact of moral and Catholic values on the American electorate. He is co-author, with Matthew Kerbel, of "Party On! Political Parties from Hamilton and Jefferson to Today's Networked Age (2012), and with CUA Professor of Sociology Sandra Hanson, of "The American Dream in the 21st Century" (2011). He is also the author of "Barack Obama's America: How New Conceptions of Race, Family, and Religion Ended the Reagan Era" (2009).
