WHEN:

Sunday, April 22, 2 p.m.

WHERE: The Catholic University of America Hannan Hall, Herzfeld Auditorium 620 Michigan Ave. N.E. Washington, D.C.
DETAILS: Helen Osman, secretary of communications for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, will deliver the annual Catholic Daughters of the Americas Lecture.

St. Hildegard of Bingen, who described her relationship with God as a feather floating on air, is one example of a strong woman who embraced her role in the Catholic Church. Osman will discuss what modern American Catholic women can learn from those who have gone before them and what wisdom should be passed on to future generations. A native of Missouri, Osman grew up on a dairy farm. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Drury University in 1982. She subsequently worked for the Diocese of Austin, Texas, for approximately 22 years in several roles, including as communications director, newspaper editor, and safe environment coordinator.

In her current position as secretary of communications for the USCCB, she oversees all communication aspects of the bishops' conference. Her experience includes guiding 5,000 media through the first papal visit by Pope Benedict XVI to the United States and leading the USCCB's entry into social media.
