University Events Usher In Christmas Season

CUA Symphony Orchestra

The CUA Symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Searle, will perform at the Dec. 7 Christmas Concert for Charity at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Upper Church. The concert also features the Basilica Choir and CUA's University Singers and University Chorus.

Catholic University will usher in the Christmas season with a series of events to take place over the course of the next month. Unless noted, events take place on campus.

Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony On Friday, Nov. 30, at 5 p.m., Campus Ministry and the Office of Campus Activities host the annual Light the Season event. The ceremonial lighting of the tree in the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center third-floor Atrium will be accompanied by music and refreshments. Annual Christmas Concert for Charity On Friday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. musicians will perform at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Sponsored annually by University and the Basilica, this year's concert features the Choir of the Basilica, conducted by Peter Latona, director of music; The Catholic University of America Chamber Choir, University Singers, University Chorus, and the CUA Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Leo Nestor, Justine Bayard Ward Professor, and director of the Institute of Sacred Music.
