DETAILS

Each year in remembrance of the Lenten season and in preparation for Holy Week - the final week before Easter - students participate in a Way of the Cross.

This candlelit procession begins at the Office of Campus Ministry and will commemorate the Stations of the Cross, 14 moments in the passion of Jesus.

In a new twist this year, students from each residence hall on campus will take turns carrying the roughly-hewn wooden cross that leads the procession, passing it to the next group at each station.

"The Way of the Cross is a great way to involve our entire campus in prayer as we head into the Holy Week liturgies of the Triduum ," said David Pennington, associate campus minister for liturgy and worship. "The traditional Catholic practice of doing the Stations of the Cross during Lent is a great way to prepare our hearts and our minds for the Easter celebrations that are coming at the end of the week."

Students interested in reading or carrying the cross should contact Lauren Scharmer at 54scharmer@cardinalmail.cua.edu . For more information, contact Campus Ministry at 202-319-5575 or cua-campus-ministry@cua.edu .
