| DETAILS | Michael Collins, ambassador of Ireland to the United States, will present a lecture on "Ireland and the EU: The Road to Recovery." Collins has been a key figure in the Northern Ireland peace process and has held numerous political and diplomatic posts. Ireland currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. "Ambassador Collins will address Ireland's road to recovery after its recent financial crisis and subsequent recession, along with the goals of the current Irish Presidency," said Claudia Bornholdt, director of the Certificate in European Studies (CES), chair of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, and associate professor of German. This lecture is part of the CES lecture series. CES is a multidisciplinary program within the School of Arts and Sciences that allows students to become thoroughly knowledgeable and language proficient in at least one of the cultures of Europe.
