- COUNTERTERRORISM AND HOMELAND SECURITY - Dorle Hellmuth , assistant professor, politics, is an expert on counterterrorism and homeland security (U.S., Europe, transatlantic); European politics; nuclear non-proliferation; and U.S. national security and foreign affairs. Hellmuth has held appointments as assistant professor at American University's School of International Service, and as a research fellow at the National War College, National Defense University. She is currently completing a book manuscript on the effects of government structures in shaping counter-terrorism policies in Germany, the United States, Great Britain, and France.

• NON-STATE TERRORISTS and AL-QAEDA - Maryann Cusimano Love , associate professor of international relations, studies non-state, transnational organizations like al-Qaeda and what citizens can do about such threats. She has written two books on the topic: "Beyond Sovereignty" and "Unplugging the Cold War Machine." For the past several years she has been traveling around the world giving speeches and conference talks warning of transnational threats like terrorism and addressing the ability of the present U.S. government structures to deal with such threats. She is a member of the Secretary of State's Core Group on Religion and Foreign Policy, and teaches in the Pentagon as part of CUA's graduate program there.

- COUNTER-TERRORISM AND THE LAW - Antonio F. Perez , professor at CUA's Columbus School of Law, can discuss a broad range of international legal issues, including extradition; use of force; use of covert (C.I.A. and military) authority; domestic, constitutional and foreign relations issues; and sanctions (economic and otherwise). He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has worked on law enforcement and intelligence issues, including counter-terrorism and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, in the U.S. State Department's legal adviser's office. - U.S. NATIONAL SECURITY POLICY - Wallace Thies , professor of politics, specializes in U.S. national security policy, with an interest in terrorism. He is available to discuss connections between the war on terrorism, the war against Iraq and the potential for greater terrorist activity here and abroad as a result of both. He is the author of three books - one on military strategy in the Vietnam War and two on politics within the Atlantic Alliance - as well as about 20 articles on various topics related to military strategy and national security issues.
