Approximately 120 staff members from area universities gathered in the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center on Friday, June 14, for a professional development day.
The event, known as "Consortium Day," brings together registrar's office staff from members of the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area. Every two years, one of the member institutions takes a turn hosting the event, which features a keynote address and break-out sessions. This year, the keynote address was delivered by Michael Reilly, executive director of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
Staff from member institutions presented on various topics during the breakout sessions. At lunch, attendees sat with and talked to colleagues from other institutions who are involved in the same functional areas, known as "affinity groups." John C. Cavanaugh, president and CEO of the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area, delivered remarks during the lunch.
"The Office of Enrollment Services is excited to be hosting 'Consortium Day' this year because it is an opportunity for us to welcome our colleagues to our beautiful campus," says Adriana Farella, associate vice president for enrollment services and University registrar. "We look forward to this meeting every year because it gives us a chance to share professional knowledge and network with registrar's office staff from other area institutions."
