CUA Professors Available to Comment on Pope's Trip to Brazil for World Youth Day

Youths from around the world (including 10 students from Catholic University) are gathering in Rio de Janeiro next week leading up to an audience with Pope Francis on July 27 and 28. World Youth Day is a worldwide encounter with the Pope that is typically celebrated every three years in a different country.

Faculty from The Catholic University of America are available to discuss the importance of this event, what the Pope says to the young people, and what his words mean to the Catholic Church in general.

  • SPIRITUALITY IN LATIN AMERICA - David Lantigua, assistant professor of moral theology, researches medieval and modern Catholic social thought with a focus on Church autonomy, the ethics of evangelization, religious freedom, and human rights.   • CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING - Chad C. Pecknold, assistant professor of theology, teaches fundamental theology and political theology.
