The teach-in will host several speakers who will discuss the current conflict in Syria and the debate surrounding the U.S. response, while shedding light on the complex historical, legal, moral, political, and religious dimensions of the crisis there. Non-violent response alternatives, the current stance of international politics, legal issues surrounding the conflict, and the humanitarian crisis are among the topics that will be discussed. "We hope to contribute to an engaged and informed discussion about this very challenging issue," said William Barbieri, director of the Peace and Justice Studies Program and associate professor of ethics in the School of Theology and Religious Studies. Speakers will include Professor Antonio Perez from CUA's Columbus School of Law, Stephen Colecchi of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and Richard Love from the National Defense University.
