DETAILS | CUA's Benjamin T. Rome School of Music will host an open house this Saturday for its new community music school, a program designed to provide free music lessons regardless of financial means to any interested members of the community. The program will be run largely by CUA music education majors, who will work on a volunteer basis to teach private lessons and orchestrate concerts for these students. During the open house, interested individuals can learn about and sample various instruments, as well as enjoy faculty performances and a world drumming demonstration. Refreshments will be provided, and guests may register for the upcoming semester of classes, which begins the following week. "Education in the arts is one of the most essential and enriching experiences anyone can enjoy. The vision of Dean of Music Grayson Wagstaff to provide instruments and lessons without any financial obligation represents the true value of education," said Soo You, a string instructor for the Music Education program within the music school.
