| DETAILS: | Sister Helen Prejean, author of Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States , will deliver the conference's keynote address. Sister Helen is a well-known advocate of abolition of the death penalty. She has educated citizens about the death penalty and counseled individual death row prisoners. The conference also will feature a lunchtime lecture by Vicki Schieber, whose daughter was raped and murdered in 1998. She has since devoted herself to a moratorium on the death penalty. She is co-editor of the book Where Justice and Mercy Meet: Catholic Opposition to the Death Penalty and teaches Catholic social teaching on the death penalty with the Catholic Mobilizing Network to End the Use of the Death Penalty. Other speakers will address "Practical Arguments on the Death Penalty" and "Moral/Theological Aspects of the Death Penalty." All are welcome to attend.
