Knights of Columbus to Host Archbishop William Lori
Most Rev. William E. Lori, archbishop of Baltimore and supreme chaplain of the Knights of Columbus, will give a talk titled, "What It Means to be Pro-Life in Today's Society," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, in Keane Auditorium, McGivney Hall, on the campus of The Catholic University of America.
Archbishop Lori was installed as the 16th archbishop of Baltimore in 2012. He is chairman of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' (USCCB) Ad Hoc Committee on Universities and Colleges as well as a member of the Committee on Doctrine, the Committee on Pro-Life Activities, and the Ad Hoc Committee for the Defense of Marriage.
Born in Louisville, Ky., Archbishop Lori earned a bachelor's degree from the Seminary of Saint Pius X in Erlanger, Ky., in 1973 and a master's degree from Mount Saint Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, Md., in 1977, the same year he was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Washington. In 1982, he received his doctorate in sacred theology from Catholic University.
"As the supreme chaplain of the Knights of Columbus and shepherd of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Archbishop Lori is able to bring a unique perspective to the pro-life issue," says senior Nicholas Shields, grand knight of the CUA council.
"The archbishop has been a vocal leader in the pro-life movement, and we are honored and excited to welcome him to campus to speak about the importance of being pro-life in today's society, particularly on a college campus."
