DETAILS CUA's annual Way of the Cross is a campus-wide event that invites participants to walk in the footsteps of Jesus through the 14 moments of his Passion, known as the Stations of the Cross.

This candlelit procession will begin at the Office of Campus Ministry and make its way to each of the 14 stations across campus. Students from each residence hall on campus will take turns carrying the wooden cross that leads the procession, passing it on at each new station.

"The Way of the Cross is an ancient tradition that stretches back more than 800 years as a way for people to commemorate the final moments of Jesus as he walked from Jerusalem to Mount Calvary and his crucifixion," said Rev. Justin Ross, associate chaplain for liturgy and worship. "Popularized by the Franciscan Friars in the 15th century, CUA continues this time honored tradition of walking the Stations of the Cross throughout campus as a community-wide way of entering more deeply into the Paschal Mysteries of Jesus Christ during Holy Week."
