Experts at The Catholic University of America are available to talk about the Supreme Court's decision in the Hobby Lobby case, which raises the question of whether a corporation has a legal right on religious grounds to refuse to comply with provisions of the Affordable Care Act requiring it to provide contraceptive health insurance coverage for its female employees.
MARKETING AND CATHOLIC SOCIAL DOCTRINE - Andrew Abela, dean of the School of Business and Economics and associate professor of marketing, focuses his research on the integrity of the marketing process, including marketing ethics, Catholic social doctrine, and internal communication. He is the co-editor of the Catechism for Business , and winner of the 2009 Novak Award given by the Acton Institute for "significant contributions to the study of the relationship between religion and economic liberty." FREEDOM OF RELIGION - Robert A. Destro, professor of law and founding director of the Interdisciplinary Program in Law and Religion at Catholic University's Columbus School of Law, is an expert in freedom of religion, constitutional law (separation of powers), international human rights, freedom of speech, freedom of association, bioethics, marriage law, and civil rights. Destro served as a member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights from 1983 to 1989. In April, he co-chaired a national call-in forum on the Hobby Lobby case, and was a member of the winning litigation team in the Supreme Court's recent, unanimous decision on the "false campaign speech" in Susan B. Anthony List v. Driehaus.
