Experts on the Immigration Crisis
Experts at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., are available to discuss Catholic social teaching on migration and the Catholic Church's response to the immigration crisis on the U.S. border.
- LATINOS AND HISPANICS IN THE UNITED STATES - Enrique Pumar, associate professor and sociology department chair, is an expert in Central American and international migration, Latinos and Hispanics in the United States, higher education, Latin America and Cuba, and urban crime. Pumar recently edited the book Hispanic Migration and Urban Development and every semester he lectures on Latin America migration at the Foreign Service Institute. - MEXICAN MIGRATION TO THE UNITED STATES - Julia Young, assistant professor of history, is an expert in Latin America, Mexico, Mexican migration to the United States, religion, and ethnicity and diasporas. Young is currently completing a book about Mexican migration during the Cristero War, a Church-state conflict of the 1920s.
