Sept. 22, 2014

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 23, the University will collect food waste for composting in the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center. Student volunteers will be present near new receptacles for landfill waste and recyclable and compostable materials to help members of the community learn what materials belong in each bin.

The new receptacles are part of an effort to further decrease landfill waste on campus. New signage will be installed above the bins to indicate how to sort disposed materials.

Compostable materials include any food waste and paper napkins. Materials that can be disposed of in recycling bins across campus include not only paper waste, but also aluminum, glass, and most plastics (find out more at http://publicaffairs.cua.edu/releases/2014/recyclables.cfm ).
