James Dewey-Rosenfeld

President John Garvey announced today that the University has hired James Dewey-Rosenfeld as the new dean of undergraduate admissions, effective June 1, 2016. Dewey-Rosenfeld has served as associate director of undergraduate admission at Babson College since July 2012.

Dewey-Rosenfeld has been working in the field of undergraduate admissions for more than 13 years. In addition to Babson College, he has held positions at Providence College and Anna Maria College.

During his time at Babson College, Dewey-Rosenfeld worked on the Enrollment Management team that helped propel Babson to its most selective year, enrolling the largest and strongest class in the school's history. As a territory manager, Dewey-Rosenfeld helped double the number of first-year applications from Illinois and more than tripled the number of enrolled students.

Dewey-Rosenfeld earned his B.A. in economics from Providence College in 2001. He is a member of the New England Association for College Admission Counseling, the National Association for College Admission Counseling, and the International Association for College Admission Counseling.

Announcing the appointment, President Garvey said, "James Dewey-Rosenfeld has shown a clear passion for undergraduate admissions over the course of his career. I am excited to have him leading our admissions team as we work to meet new and ambitious enrollment goals."

"James has demonstrated a consistent progression in the college admission profession and is a great fit for Catholic University," said Christopher P. Lydon, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing. "He has experience with strategic recruitment planning and staff development, and James has an extensive background with international recruitment."

Dewey-Rosenfeld noted: "During my visit to campus, I was so impressed by the president, faculty, and staff members' commitment to Catholic University's students, mission, and future, that it is very easy to be excited about this opportunity. As an institution that focuses so much on students finding their challenge and truth, both in and out of the classroom, all while being centered in the nation's capital, I believe that Catholic University is an exciting prospect for students from all over the world."

As the dean of undergraduate admissions, Dewey-Rosenfeld will report to the vice president for enrollment management and marketing. He will serve as the chief admissions officer for the University. In collaboration with administration, faculty, and staff, he will lead efforts to achieve the University's enrollment goals at the undergraduate level by developing strategies to identify and enroll academically talented students from across the nation.
