The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Thursday that former Catholic University baseball assistant coach Connor McGuiness has been named Assistant Pitching Coach.
McGuiness, who spent one season with the Cardinals as a graduate assistant and pitching coach in 2016, is currently in his fourth year with the Dodgers organization. The 2020 season will be his first with the major league team as he will serve under pitching coach and former Chicago Cubs starter, Mark Prior.
"I'm beyond excited," McGuiness said. "It's a dream come true, and to be given an opportunity to continue working with such a great organization at the highest level truly is an honor."
McGuiness joined the Dodgers in 2017 as the pitching coach for the Great Lakes Loons, a Single-A affiliate in the Midwest League. He spent the last two seasons with the High-A affiliate Rancho Cucamonga Quakes for the past two seasons. In his first season in 2018, the Quakes went 87-53 and were champions of the California League.
