The School of Theology and Religious Studies at The Catholic University of America is launching a new podcast, Echoing Faith Today, on Sunday, Aug. 30, with a series of thoughtful conversations with bishops, scholars, and catechetical experts. They will explore key themes in the newly released 2020 Directory for Catechesis from the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization. 

The series, debuting on Sundays, is hosted by Jem Sullivan, visiting associate professor of Catechetics at Catholic University.  

“The publication of a new Directory for Catechesis is an important opportunity to discuss it’s theological and pastoral themes,” says Very Rev. Mark Morozowich, dean of the School of Theology and Religious Studies. “I’m pleased to share this podcast series hosted by our faculty member, Dr. Jem Sullivan. I invite you to explore and learn about major topics in the new Directory for Catechesis with bishops, scholars and catechetical leaders from across the country and the world by tuning in to these timely podcast conversations.”

The podcast will be available on the School of Theology and Religious Studies website.

The schedule of episodes and guests in the series includes: 

  • Sunday, Aug. 30: His Excellency, Bishop Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst, delegate for catechesis to the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization, Rome. 
    • Podcast series introduction by Father Morozowich, and overview of Catechetics area programs by Rev. Raymond Studzinski, O.S.B. chair of catechesis, Catholic University.
  • Sunday, Sep. 6: Bishop Robert Barron, founder of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
  • Sunday, Sep. 13: Hoffsman Ospino, associate professor, theology and education, Boston College.
  • Sunday, Sep. 20: Ian Boxall, associate professor of New Testament, Catholic University.
  • Sunday, Sep. 27: Rev. Marco Benini, research professor of liturgical studies and sacramental theology, Catholic University.
  • Sunday, Oct. 4: Margaret Matijasevic, executive director of the National Conference of Catechetical Leadership.
