Dear Members of the University Community,
I want to take this opportunity to update you on our search for the 16th president of The Catholic University of America. The Search Advisory Committee has been hard at work since before Christmas, evaluating a substantial pool of qualified and capable potential candidates. The initial group of more than 60 potential candidates was reduced to 29 by committee deliberations. From there, the committee continued its process and narrowed the field to 11 candidates, who were invited for individual interviews with the entire committee. Having conducted those extensive interviews, the number of candidates was further reduced, after a substantial amount of deliberation, and the committee is back to work with the remaining candidates. We remain on track for concluding the process this spring.
The committee has been impressed by the quality of individual candidates, their diverse backgrounds, and their articulated vision for our University. The strong candidate pool is a tribute to Catholic University’s strengthening reputation and its unique position as the bishops’ University. Please continue to pray for all involved as we begin the final phase of the process.
Sincerely,
Victor P. Smith
