University President Peter Kilpatrick was among four campus community members honored with the Chief of Police Award by the Metro Transit Police Department on May 15.

The University’s Heritage Hall hosted the department’s annual awards and recognition ceremony. President Kilpatrick received a Chief of Police Award, as did Kirk McLean, Associate Vice President for Public Safety and Emergency Management, Sergeant Lawrence Barreto, and Sharron D. Faulkner, the Office and Support Service Manager.

During the last year, the University launched the “Keep Catholic Safe” campaign to increase community awareness and involvement in campus safety. President Kilpatrick has also met with D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and the city’s police chief to identify how security can be improved and additional areas for collaboration.
