John Garvey, President
The Catholic University of America
620 Michigan Ave. NE
Washington, DC 20064

Dear President Garvey,

After much prayer and discernment, I am submitting my resignation to you as Dean of the National Catholic School of Social Service, effective immediately. I do so with all good will for the University and School. Given the needs of the faculty and direction of the School, I believe a different academic leader is warranted.

I am truly blessed to have had the privilege to serve as Dean for the last four years. I am grateful to you for the opportunity. I resign with the knowledge that as a faithful Catholic, I have contributed my time and talent in ways that have benefitted the University and the Church.

As I return to the faculty as an Associate Professor in the National Catholic School of Social Service, I will continue to offer my time and talent to growing the School and the University. I remain available to you should you need my support in any endeavor. Indeed, I look forward to discovering how I may help you fulfill the mission of the University and its National Catholic School of Social Service.

I pray God continues to bless you in your leadership of The Catholic University of America!

Best Regards,

Will C. Rainford, MSW, PhD
Associate Professor of Social Work
