John Garvey, President of The Catholic University of America, testified Feb. 27 before a U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee hearing titled "Anti-Semitism: A Growing Threat to All Faiths."
Garvey laid out three arguments against anti-Semitism during his testimony before the Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights, and International Organizations.
He explained that anti-Semitism is intrinsically wrong, it is a threat to all faiths, and that it undermines the fundamental premises of a liberal democracy.
Joining Garvey on the panel were Zudhi Jasser, president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy; Katrina Lantos Swett, chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom; Elisa Massimino, president and chief executive officer of Human Rights First; and Eric Metaxas, author and commentator.
Subcommittee Chairman Christopher H. Smith (R-N.J.) presided over the hearing. He was joined by seven fellow members of the House.
