The Catholic University of America has launched the Center for Cultural Engagement with the mission of helping students develop a sense of self, sense of place, and sense of responsibility. It opened its doors July 18, and since then, it has been working closely with the Office of Campus Activities to welcome students and their families in an intercultural space this fall.

Ferentz Lafargue, director of the center, said that the Center for Cultural Engagement helps students find an answer to these questions: “How am I? Where am I? What am I called to do?” Questions that allow students to understand their calling in life and the purpose of their actions.

The center will continue the mission and activities of the Intercultural Program, but it will expand its scope by co-facilitating leadership and orientation programs, advising the intercultural student organizations, and creating an open space for cross-cultural communication and awareness.

“I encourage all students to come and pay us a visit to the Center for Cultural Engagement in the Pryzbyla Center 207,” said Ferentz. “We want you to feel warm and welcome here.”
