The Catholic University of America indoor field standout Andrea Galeano was one of just two Landmark Conference student-athletes to qualify for the 2017 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships as she competed in the weight throw on Friday morning.
Galeano, who re-wrote the Catholic and Landmark record books this season, set the top mark and then broke it two more times in 2017.
The second-year thrower was the youngest competitor in the NCAA field as the only sophomore and underclassman to advance to Nationals. There were also just five juniors set to compete at the event.
Galeano's furthest of three attempts at this year's Nationals in Naperville, Ill., went 15.75 meters, good for 17th in the nation.
Catholic's star sophomore now moves on to the outdoor season and will have two more indoor seasons in her career to improve upon her ranking among the country's best.
