Centennial Village is made up of a full size basketball court, fountain with grass seating, and eight — now seven — residence halls.

Bright and early on Monday, Nov. 11, demolition began on Magner House, the CV building overlooking the University Lawn and Edward J. University Pryzbyla Center.

When demolition is complete, construction will begin on a new student dining commons, made possible by an anonymous $6 million gift.

In 1988, the project of building CV started in order to house 545 students in close community with one another. That sense of community still remains true today as CV is a major gathering spot for socializing, outdoor classes, and residence life events.

Onlookers of the beginning demolition said their goodbyes while residence life staff gave out donuts and coffee to celebrate a new beginning.
